Purchasing carpet for a room with lots of traffic and a dog that sheds a lot. What do I buy?

More info on the room may help. Upstairs, basement, family room, living room? I would suggest a tight looped carpet or a tip sheer (loop and cut pile) as that will handle the traffic best. Look for commercial carpets they are tougher.

Nate's got the right idea ~ I would suggest you look at a nylon commercial cut pile. The short, dense pile will stand up to the traffic and the dog hair and be fairly easy to keep clean. 28 ounce weight should do you very nicely. The underpad is more important than the carpet, be sure to buy the densest pad available - at least 8 pound, and no more than 3/8ths thick. If the pad is thicker than the tack strips that the carpet is stretched onto, it may come loose and compromise the stretch. Deb
